Baked Brie with Apples and Cranberries

Last week I gave you a recipe that was guilt free for holiday parties. This week, we indulge!! I came across this recipe in an old church recipe book. I have found some of the best recipes that way. This brie is perfect for Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. The ingredients are festive and absolutely mouthwatering when paired together. Just read down the list and you will begin to salivate – it’s sugar and spice, and everything nice. This recipe is also extremely fast and easy to prepare, yet it’s an elegant addition to any holiday table.

1 C chopped apple (1 medium)
1/2 C sliced natural almonds
1/2 C dried cranberries
2 Tbsp packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp butter, melted
1- 15oz round Brie cheese wheel
Small sliced rounds of french bread, toasted or assorted crackers or apple wedges

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coarsely chop apple. Combine apple, almonds, cranberries, brown sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Stir in butter just until ingredients are moistened. Cut brie in half horizontally. Place one half of brie rind side down on baking tray. Spoon half the apple mixture onto the bottom half of brie and spread evenly. Top with remaining half of brie, rind side up and then spoon the remaining apple mixture on top. Bake 20-25 min, until cheese is soft and just begins to melt. Serve with french bread slices, assorted crackers or apple wedges.
